MOVE DAMN YOU!

I know that it has been awhile since the last "potato chip" blog and that's my fault! I have been super tired and haven't been on the computer much these last few days. So here is what has been going on.....

a big FAT nothing! I think I have reached my first "whatever... this sucks" phase. This past oh, week makes me just want to give up. Hence the "phase" I'm in. I know that its going to be hard...i know that slow and steady wins the race...but right now I feel like I DON'T CARE! I want to see more than a one pound difference when I step on the scale. I wanna feel like my clothes are getting to big and I don't. And the thing about this is I have nothing to look forward to to set another goal. The cruise is almost here and I have nothing to show for it...same size as when I found out I was going! Nothing moved! OK maybe weight shifted and a few pounds came off but nothing that one would say, "HEY ARE YOU LOSING WEIGHT?" Is it wrong? To be that vain to have someone notice that you are at least make some effort, someone other than my mom and the girls that I work out with(not that you don't count your support means a lot..but)

I promised that I would be real and right now I think I am. I am very stressed and on an emotional overload (just ask my husband!) Maybe that has something to do with it! I don't know. Hopefully, when I get back from my trip I will be in better spirits and will go back to kicking my butt in the gym!

Again that's to all of you for your support!

SALTY! CRUNCHY! YUMMY!

So here's the story......

Sunday we had a surprise birthday party for our friend Joe! I was told to bring the chips! YEAH, I LOVE CHIPS! I went to the store and bought all of my favorites! Why you might be wondering? Because they were for a party and other people would be eating them too. Right? WRONG! There was such yummy food there no one ate chips! So what do you think happened? They sent hone all the chips with me! NOOOOO! yup! That's right I have 4 bags of chips sitting on top of my refrigerator! Starring at me, mocking me taunting me! So I gave in!

Wasn't that easy! Well, what should I have done! Eaten everything else to compensate for not having the chips or just having a small bowl and getting it over with?

Jon asked me if I was going to "blog" about this and I said yes! So I am! It's a bowl of chips! Really, what is that? A few 100 calories? 10 more minutes on the tread mill? A treat for me? Yes to all of the above!

Maybe I'll send the rest to school for the kids to eat in the classrooms then I dont have to worry bout it or I could work on the self-control issue or I should say, lack of self-contol issue that I have...stay tuned to see where the chips fall (hee hee chips fall)

STEP AWAY AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT!

Well this was a fun week! Not only did I NOT get to the gym once, I pretty much ate what I wanted. So the question is.....is it OK to have a week like that? I say yes, only cuz I did. But I wouldn't recommended it on a weekly basis!

Nothing major went on this week. I stressed out somewhat because of the kids. They were just being normal "i don't wanna do that" kids. Jonah was a real frustration to me this week with wrestling but I think we are getting over that. Everyone must have been having some sort of PMS this week. We all seemed to be a tad moody. But we are getting better. Hopefully we will all be back to "normal" this week!

As far as food goes, I notice that even though I was stressing, I didn't seem to eat just because! So that is good. But I did eat what I wanted and maybe a little more. Not getting to the gym really hurts! I REALLY like going but was not motivated! It's really hard to get that motivation back once you get out of your normal routine.

This week I am ready to get back to my work outs!! But now McKennah is home sick and I will have to work out here (which is not any fun with out friends) but I will do it! 2 Miles with Leslie here I come!

I have decided that I am NOT going to step on the scale this week, do to the fact that if its not good I will be hard on myself and go though a mental beating so, I'm stepping away from the bathroom scale for the week and I'm going to work my butt off to make up for last week!

21 days until my cruise....and I dress that I need to loss about 10lbs to fit into!

Can I do it? YES I CAN!

STEPPING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!

well, OK...so its been a week since I blogged, sorry! Its been crazy busy! Let's see where I left off.. oh yeah, loosing weight!

Well I just stepped on the scale and was down one pound which is better than I thought because the only working out I did this week was lifting my fork to my mouth! No really, I made it to work out class one day this week. I still watched what I was eating so I must have did OK. I can really see the difference in my attitude and energy level when I don't exercises and when I do. When I have a chance to get to the gym and get a full workout in my energy level is really up and my attitude is "I CAN DO THIS" and on those days that I don't go I tend to eat more junk and become a couch potato. Gee I wonder what feeling I like better!

Well, there is one month till I set sail on my once in a life time dream of a cruise, and my goal is 10lbs. Am I going to be down on myself if I don't make it I hope not but I probably will... (and I will miss out on some nice clothes that I bought that are a tad to small) but even if I loss something it will be a step in the right direction.

So to recap...more gym...less fast/fried food!

I just also wanted to thank everyone that has been supporting me! It has meant more than you know knowing I have you in my corner!

Off to the gym!

Whaaaat, ME in a dress...... come on

Good day!

Yep, it was! I was at the gym today. Did 55 minutes on the treadmill and then did weights/toning machines! I got to work out with my friends Lana and Pam which always make it fun and workouts seem to go that much faster!

I went shopping today because I was told this week that I have to have a formal dress for one of the dinners on the cruise I am going on in April.. UGH! Me in a formal/cocktail dress. I had a hard enough time getting into a bridesmaids dress from my friend Nicole's wedding. Any who, I went to Dress Barn and tried on a bizillion and one dresses (thanks Pam)....and go figure. I picked out several in my size and guess what...I was swimming in them! Really! I chalk it up to the fact that they must be REALLY generous with their sizes. Also, I don't know who thinks that "thicker" women need pleats, but whoever they are they should be shot! Pleats come on really!

Well, I didn't find one so the search continues. Though next time, slip on shoes!

Eating today was OK. I missed breakfast again. I know I was trying not to do that but I'm not sure if I should eat before I work out or not. I will have to research that and see what I find and will let you all know. I had a 6" sub for lunch with a strip of lite mayo so that was good! I have found this one site that counts your calories/proteins/fat grams all that stuff and I have found out I am not eat a lot of calories but I eat a lot of carbs and my fat intake is high. So, my next goal is to find out how to bring both of those thing down.
I am seriously thinking about meeting with a dietitian also to get a plan on food. I think if I could get a baseline I would be able to do the rest on my own. I will have to see what the insurance pays for.

I'll keep ya posted!

It Moved!

Yeah! The scale moved in the right direction too! DOWN!

Well, am I happy with a 4lb weight loss this month! YES, as I look at it I could have gained another 4lbs, right.

So this month my goal is to stay away from the "binging". See, I have been watching what I do with food and my meals and I think this is where I am going wrong. On days that I work, I tend not to eat breakfast(bad) and have a small quick lunch (15 min where I inhale my food)(bad) and then and starving by the time I get off at 2. So then I run though Burger King for a whopper jr.(bad) Then I have supper with the fam! On the days that I don't work, I don't eat breakfast (again, bad), I usually have fast food or nothing for lunch (bad) and then supper and a snack while watching TV at night.
Everything I have read says to eat though out the day but having small portions. I can't seem to find the time to stop what I am doing every two hours and put food in my mouth. So the goal is...eat a healthy breakfast, a nice filling lunch, a light snack and a sensible meal for supper! oh, and water lots and LOTS of water! Easier said than done right. But what can it hurt to try. What do I have to loose....oh yeah, weight!

So wish me luck! I am taking on this new challenge with great enthusiasm!

Around and round I go......

Why is it that when you are not in the best of moods or not feeling the best you turn to food? You don't? Ohhhh, that must be me!

Well, I can start off by saying I made it to the gym all last week and worked out! To that I feel good about! For the most part I watched what I ate...as it all went into my mouth! Monday thru Thursday went well and I stayed on track really good with what I was eating...but then Friday and Saturday..........not so good:(

I guess when I eat something that I know I shouldn't I think to myself (and this is the destructive side of me) " You'd may as well eat everything you want you just blew it!" Then the self pity steps in and I keep going! I think I just beat myself up with food!

Now to change that....................

Well, that is going to be a work in progress because that is how I have dealt with food issue in the past.

My sis-in-law asked what kind of a food plan was I going to follow? Good question! I don't know if I am going to follow any! I not sure I believe in a "plan" that eliminates foods from your "diet". The way I think about it is I am 35 years old.....am I for the next 40 years going to follow that "plan"? I don't think I am THAT committed! But I like different things from different plans. The way I hope to accomplish what I have started is this.........

Portion control
Limiting fast/fried foods
and most of all
Exercising!

I have found that I love to go to the gym! As much as I moan and groan and try to talk myself out of it I go and I feel great! I love the feeling that I have done something good for me that day! I also love the "therapy" I get from meeting my friends there too.

So to pin point the last few days....bad. When my mood is down I will have to find something that will help counteract the food thing and somehow get off this crazy merry-go-round.

Catch up (part 2)

OK...I am going to start posting my weight loss. I will have you know this is not an easy task for any woman much less one who has zero self esteem. But tracking the loss will be a HUGE boost in that category!

Here's where I stand....about a month ago I stood on the scale when I had to donate plasma and was in utter shock and embarrassment, I had reached my all time highest weight at 261lbs. I could hardly believe it! What was my first instinct? Go eat a bag of chips or something! That would make me feel better! NOT!

Well, since then according to the Wii, I started out at 256 on February 2nd. So I think I will take that as my starting weight and go from there!

Catch-up!

OK going to catch a you all to where I am now.....

At the beginning of this year a friend of mine started a "club" on facebook to hold each other accountable for their food intake and exercise!(great idea) but at that point I wasn't really motivated to be sharing what I wasn't doing! Then, they decide to meet once a week and work out together! I made sure I always had something going on that day because I wasn't comfortable working out with girls that were half my size.

Then, a few weeks later, OK maybe about a month or two ago, I went to my friend Candi's house and tried out her Wii Fit! Completely falling in love with it! I decided this is what I am going to do! Because honestly, I could do it in the privacy of my home and NO ONE could see me!

So out I went and bought it! Worked out every morning for 1/2 hour! Loving how it made me feel! Also, at the same time feeling a since of accomplishment that I was finally doing something about my weight! After the first week, I weighed myself and had the biggest disappointment....nothing. So i figured whats the point. Why continue when there was no results! So what now.....Hardees' looked good, and that's where I found myself! Food......turn to food

Well, I knew that eating Hardees' wasn't going to take the weight off. It was going to be alot of hard work on my part. The thing I had to think about was am I strong enough and do I want this bad enough! I finally found my answer.....YES! Yes... I want it bad enough and I AM strong enough to do it!

So to present dated, I have gone back to the gym with a few of my girlfriend(you know who ya r thanks for the confidence boost!) almost every day. I have done a good 2 miles on the treadmill and some weights and I started to go the girls group on Tuesdays to work out with them!

Finally, Monday stepped on the Wii and found I am only 2lbs away from my first 10lb goal! Yeah!

p.s. I haven't worked out on the Wii much in the last 2 weeks becasue I find that being in the company of friends makes the work out seem to go so much faster!

2.24.2009

Well, here I go!

I hope I can do this! I am about to bare all! Here is my story~

I have struggled with my weight since I was in high school. I was never really "big", I was a swimmer so I had muscle, but I was never "skinny!" After graduation, I moved to Maryland to be a nanny! Fun yes, lonely YES! So I found my comfort in food! Mass quantities of food! Bags of chips in a sitting....3, 4 king size candy bars, fast food, you name it I consumed it! When I came home after a year, I put on 40lbs!

When I came to the point of really looking at myself, I ate because I looked the way I did! I had an older sister that was a stick and a mom that had gone though Weight Watchers and was also a stick and then there was me! So of course I ate more because it was what I did best! (By no means am I using them as an excuse. I put the weight on all by myself.)

Then I met my husband at collage! He was all of 145lbs. Can we say intimidating? After we got married and starting having babies the weight continued to pile on. I tried all sorts of "diet pills", quick weight loss tricks you name it! Then after my second son was born, I went on a Dr. prescribed diet pill! Hallelujah! Something that worked....I went from a size 18/20 to a 16 and I felt great! I was out walking and loving the new me! Well, to make the happy story sad, I stopped taking the pill and all that weight came back and then some A LOT of some!

By now, I was having my 3rd baby and put on even more weight with that pregnancy. (I have to say though with my pregnancies with the boys I never gain a pound, in fact with my first I lost 20lbs and with the second I lost 25lbs.)

Between the stress of kids, working , a marriage, I found my comfort still in food. It was the one thing that I could always count on.

Now, I'm about to change that! So if you want to come along with me on my new adventure, I would love to have you! Like I said, if I can encourage just one person, then my story has done its job!

Here I go..........................
